IRC Lab Tour at the University Psychiatric Services (Universitäre Psychiatrische Dienste, UPD)

C. Nissen and his group members organized a very interesting tour in the UPD. We first visited the main building, where we learned about the daily routine, the influence of sleep deprivation in patients with mental disorders, and how/why a stay in the clinic can have an effect on sleep. In the sleep laboratory, the group presented their projects, where they use auditory closed-loop modulation to either suppress or enhance sleep slow waves. They also showed us their new facilities for these experiments.
